Benny Placido is a highly experienced sales and channel marketing professional who has specialised in the computer, associated software and electronic industry. He has extensive industry network skills and significant expertise in developing operating structures and organisational systems.
Benny initiated his career as a trainee sales person with Burroughs Machines and rapidly was appointed to a senior sales position. In the early 1980s Benny moved into the software business with a small local company, Create Systems who supplied Nixdorf computer systems and the Comet accounting System and was responsible for major sales with likes of Seaforth Maritime, Barrs Soft Drinks, Yules Glass to name but a few.
After a period of entrepreneurial development Benny joined one of the industry giants Hewlett Packard and was directly involved with new business sales involving major commercial OEMs Grampian Computers, Thom Micro and was involved in HP's largest sale at the time to Scottish Transport Group.
By 1986 a very successful period with Digital Equipment was emerging and as a Sales Manager won notableaccounts from major businesses like Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland, Kwik Fit, Scottish and Newcastle,Guinness and many more.
Promotion to District Manager for the Channels Operation brought responsibility for a substantial country wide territory and revenue targets of £120m.This ten year period was capped by promotion to a Geneva based European Channel Marketing Manager position.
Benny was offered and accepted the position of European Channel Marketing Manager with 3Com Europe with direct responsibility for all European sales channel growth and development, this role was held until 1998. Prior to the purchase of PeopleDoc Ltd by Hummingbird in 2000 Benny held the position of Sales Director and was responsible for the introduction of new internet software document management components and the creation of subsequent sales market in the UK and Australia.
Prior to joining 2in10 Benny was the CEO of Pilgrim Systems plc for 5 years where he proactively drove the organisation forward by introducing new strategic sales and marketing systems and processes as well as new disciplines, like product management, into the whole company.
Benny holds a BSc in Politics and Busienss Studies from the University of Edinburgh.
