Mike Grant

Mike Grant is an Associate Director of 2in10 specialising in Marketing and Market Analysis and leads the firm’s interests in Communications and Media Technologies. Mike divides his time between Scotland and Cambridge/London where he works with Analysys Consulting as Head of the Broadband & Media Practice. Working for Superscape Group plc Mike developed the strategy that led the organization through two structural transitions from PC graphics technology provider to wireless technology provider, to leading mobile games publisher. Inside a two year transition period, Superscape has established itself as one of the worlds leading publisher of 3D mobile games and one of the top five publishers in the USA.

Mike identified, negotiated, and executed multi million dollar software licensing, IP licensing, technology, game delivery, and equity deals with major industry players including ARM, Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, Universal, Fox Mobile, Walt Disney, and Kong Zhong (China).

Mike also successfully negotiated the adoption of Superscape technology as global Java standard through building relationships with Nokia, Vodafone, and other leading industry players. He also closely supported the raising of over £35m in public funding rounds on the London Stock Exchange.

Mike established and managed the Superscape Marketing function, leading the successful development of two key Superscape 3D technology products, delivering a brand and marketing strategy tailored to the needs of mobile handset manufacturers and operators, and working with the CEO and Director Corporate Communications to communicate with the market. Mike established and managed the Commercial Affairs group delivering key processes and systems to support finance, royalty reporting, and operations functions within a highly complex publishing business. He also established and managed the legal affairs function with board level responsibility for all contract negotiations and approvals.

Prior to this Mike was Director of International Development, Head of Mobile Communications Practice, and Principal Consultant Analysys Cambridge, the worlds leading telecoms strategy consultancy. Reporting to the CEO, Mike was a leading member of the Executive Management Team that increased turnover from approx £1m in 1993 to £13m in 2000 with profits in excess of £1.5m.  The company was sold in August 2004 for £13m.

Author or co-author of numerous journal publications and conference papers in mobile gaming, broadband applications, mobile communication, and optical technology.  Comments regularly on communications issues at conferences and in the press.

Mike holds a First Class Honours BSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Glasgow an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and a PhD in Coherent Fibre Optic Systems from the University of Glasgow.
