Mike Kennedy is an Associate Director of 2in10 specialising in Product Management with a unique insight into the Silicon Valley enterprise software sector.
Michael had a dynamic career with US based online application company BroadVision Inc where he ran Product Management, helping to design and launch the company’s first internet based applications. He went on to be vice president responsible for global strategic alliances and then moved back to Europe as VP Marketing for EMEA. He joined BroadVision in 1995 when it had fewer than 20 employees and no sales and became the first employee to choose to retire 5 years later when BroadVision had a market capitalization of over $15 billion, turnover of greater than $400 million and employed more than 2000 people.
Michael spent over ten years with US-based organizations and prior to his period with BroadVision Inc worked for Oracle Corporation, Redwood Shores, CA where he was the Product Manager and then Product Marketing Manager for the Oracle database products. He then became the Director responsible for new media market development and deployments, running the first public broadband interactive video trial in England in 1994.
His early career years was in software development with Cap Gemini Sogeti UK Ltd developing command and control systems and at the International Stock Exchange, London, building automated systems for share and options trading.
Having retired back to Edinburgh, Michael returned to University to complete part-time studies in many diverse subjects from Astronomy to Philosophy. He combines this with his passion for traveling, visiting over 80 countries to date, and his apparently endless attempts at writing a novel.
After returning to Scotland after ten years immersed in Californian technology marketing Michael began talking to local companies and was dismayed to observe Scotland’s endemic lack of Product Manaegment & Marketing skills. Seeing this as a clear barrier to local technology companies being more successful in global markets he became a founding partner in 2in10 ltd. Michael is committed to working with Scottish companies to instill a market led, product development culture vital for Scottish companies to succeed on a global stage.
Michael is a keen sports enthusiast enjoying cricket, skiing, tennis and cycling. Long distance cycling is a particular passion. He was involved in breaking the world record for the fastest crossing of Africa from Cairo to Cape Town (11,000 km) in 2003.
Mike holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Aberdeen.
