2in10 CEO David Farquhar Elected to ScotlandIS Board

May 2009 - Glasgow, Scotland - 2in10 co-founder and CEO David Farquhar has been elected to the board of ScotlandIS, the trade organisation for Scottland's information and communications technologies (ICT) industry.

Farquhar's election to the board will be confirmed at a meeting on May 26th, and his duties will begin on June 10th, when the new board will take over, said Polly Purvis, Executive Director of ScotlandIS. The current Board members are also invited to attend the inaugural dinner as a thank you to them for all their hard work, she added.

Farquhar is joined on the board by Nick Price, managing director and owner of Bright Purple, an IT recruitment organisation based in Edinburgh; and Wendy McDougall, founder of 9-12recruitment, an IT recruitment company based in Glasgow.  Farquhar is also a founding partner of venture management form Pivot Capital Partners, based in Glasgow.

"The Scottish tech sector has only realised a small part of its potential, and that by the application of well tried and tested marketing and sales techniques businesses of genuine international scale can be built here," says Farquhar, who has 17 years experience in the IT sector s a serial entrepreneur and executive with such companies as SeeByte in Edinburgh and Calico Jack in Dundee. 

As a founder and CEO of 2in10 Ltd., he has also worked with more than 100 aspiring and growing technology companies, helping to position them for the global marketplace.  Farquhar is also a Globalscot, an international network of leading executives.

"As a Globalscot it has been my pleasure to help Polly and the team at Scotland IS from time to time to make contact with key members of the international IT sector in our network," said Farquhar.

As a principle of Pivot Capital Partners, a venture management firm co-founded with Alastair Balfour, Farquhar continues his mission to identify emerging Scottish companies and generate funds to help bring them to the global marketplace. Most recently, the group announced the formation of a partnership with Milestone Strategies, a strategic advisory firm based in Annapolis, MD.
