Glasgow, Scotland: Dateline: 29 September 2006
Start-up company SeeByte Ltd. and its SeeTrack product took top honors in the recent Scottish Software Awards 2006, capturing second place in the Best Product category from a field of approximately 30 entrants.
The awards ceremony took place at The Lighthouse in Glasgow and involved some of the top companies and software innovators in Scotland. Awards are given each year to recognise companies that have developed innovative software products and/or services. Categories open to entries both from established companies and from ventures which have not yet marketed their technology.
"This is a great showing given the youth and size of our company in comparison to the competition, and the levels of investment we were competing against" said Prof. David Lane, Chief Executive of the Edinburgh company. "This is a great credit to the efforts of all in the company, and demonstrates the real strength of talents we have on our team, the success SeeTrack is having in its markets to date, and most importantly, the potential we have for the future."
The Best Product award is sponsored by Scottish Equity Partners and Targeting Innovation Ltd., a co-sponsor of the Scottish Software Awards competition along with the Sunday Times Scotland. Other categories in the awards program include: Best Emerging Business, Best International Excellence and Player of the Year.
"This year the Scottish Software Awards received its highest number of entries in the four years it has been running", explained George Boag, CEO of Targeting Innovation Ltd. in a statement. "The award ceremony itself is growing more vibrant and popular each year. However the most important aspect of the awards is the increasing strength of the applications we are receiving.
